Location Research



We decided to use one of our media lessons to go out as a group and research locations in the area that were fitting to the feel and period we were aiming to convey. This then gives us the option of potentially incorporating them into our title sequence at some stage, either by using them as establishing shots, or utilising them in the shots in which the character is walking.



This excursion also helped us to build upon the group dynamic, as well as helping us to familiarise ourselves with the equipment we would be using when it actually came round to filming the main narrative of our title sequence:


Most of the shots that we ended up taking from this trip were the result of experimenting, as we didn't really have a specific idea in mind when we went out. Our original intention was to take some shots of Cabot Tower, which could then be manipulated into an establishing shot, setting the location for the piece:


As our piece is set in the 1980's, it was difficult trying to deduce locations that would be representative of this era, without including too many obvious modernisations. Howvever, we felt the following images hold the kind of feel that we were aiming for:
